Straight up I have to say it but this really reminds me of the Vaporesso Aurora Play. It really does.eden pod dust cap

But unlike the Aurora this doesn’t have the full “Zippo” lighter styling as the top dust cap completely comes off rather than just flips open.

Basically this is a pod mod vape device and the kit comprises of the battery part (mod) and the tank (pod).

vladdin eden pod kit features

The battery part contains an internal 350mAh battery which will recharge in 45-60 minutes according to Vladdin.eden kit blue

This is a constant output device so should output the same power regardless of the battery charge level. When the battery charge remaining is too low to supply the required power it will just cut out. There is also a dry-burn prevention system mentioned too.vladdin eden in hand

The pod is where you add 1.5ml of your own e-liquid via the top fill and it is supposed to be childproof and leak proof but the website details are vague as to how this is achieved.eden pod

Also inside the pod is the heating element or “coil” and this has a ceramic technology and has a 1.2-1.5ohm resistance. Not sure why this is so vague either!eden promo shots

I have not seen the pods listed on any vendor sites yet as I was looking for some more detail about them as the Vladdin website isn’t telling me much!

There are 4 colours to choose from: Blue, Black, Red and White.eden kit cap on colours

Plus you can also mix and match the dust caps.

GeekVape Aegis Solo Kit Review

The GeekVape Aegis Solo 100W box mod kit is a new, miniature version of the original GeekVape Aegis 100W kit. The Aegis Solo starter kit also features the Cerberus sub-ohm tank. The vape mod has a similar exterior design to the other Aegis mods, with its leather-wrap grip, and front-facing display. The main difference between the two GeekVape Aegis starter vape mods is that the Aegis Solo is a single 18650 device, opposed to the original GeekVape kit containing the Aegis 26650 device.

So the GeekVape Aegis Solo is much smaller than other GeekVape 100W mods, but it still has the same rugged build that makes it waterproof, dustproof and shockproof. The 100W box mod does also carry the GeekVape AS chipset inside that can power it up to 100W. The Aegis Solo box mod starter kit comes paired with the Cerberus sub-ohm vape tank with a glass extender piece, and two X2 Super-Mesh coils both rated at 0.3ohms also in the kit.

A Look Inside the Kit

The GeekVape Aegis Solo kit contains the following:

GeekVape Aegis Solo 100W Kit img

  • One GeekVape Aegis Solo vape mod
  • One GeekVape Cerberus atomizer (pre-installed with the Super Mesh X2 0.3ohm coil and the 5.5ml glass bubble extender)
  • One spare GeekVape Super Mesh X2 0.3ohm coil
  • One spare glass piece (4ml)
  • One USB charging cable
  • One bag of spare parts
  • One battery-door tool
  • One user manual

Up Close with the GeekVape Aegis Solo

The new GeekVape Aegis Solo box mod in the starter kit is a shrunken-down version of the much larger Aegis box mod and starter kit. The new device has the same shape and form as the original, with a leather-back-grip, and the 0.96-inch display facing forward. The screen also features the Aegis Solo’s three-button control configuration.

The Solo is thinner than the other Aegis mods with a width of only 41mm (1.6 inches), and standing at just over 86mm (3.4inches). The Aegis Solo is also much more slender, weighing in at 112g or 4oz. The other notable similarity to the original is the build design of the new Solo also makes it as indestructible as the first vape starter kit.

GeekVape-Aegis-Solo-100W-design-image

The zinc-aluminum alloy chassis protects the internal AS-100 chipset from water, dust, and shockwaves. All the Aegis mods have the same build features like the LSI silicone seal that protects the circuitry from water (the maximum allowable depth under water is 1 meter or 3 feet).

Even the USB port to charge the battery and install firmware upgrades is covered by a rubber stopper to keep water (or any liquid) out, which is unusual for 100W mods. There is an Aegis logo etched into one side of the device – the side with the USB port – and at the very bottom, like with most box mod starter kits, is the battery bay door that also has a waterproof design.

The door has a depressed handle that users need to remove with the special tool included in the kit, which is unlike any other box mod. They need to insert the device and unscrew the door from the threads. On the top of the mod, there is stainless steel, spring-loaded 510 connection for the Cerberus vape tank or any other 510-threaded vape tank with a diameter of 31.5mm or 1.2 inches across.

Features of the GeekVape Aegis Solo

The GeekVape Aegis Solo kit, as it contains the AS-100 chipset, features a similar display configuration as any other GeekVape mod. The screen display should be familiar to most box mod users, as it shows information like mode, wattage, battery life, coil resistance, amperage, and a vape timer in a top-down screen.

GeekVape Aegis Solo 100W mod image

The AS-100 chipset, common to all Aegis mods and kits, can enable wattage, temperature control, variable power curve, TCR, and a full bypass mode. The screen measures 0.96 inches, and it is a good size for this type of mod, although it is a little dark.

Using the screen, and exploring the menus takes only three clicks of the main firing button. Anyone can enter bypass mode, or VPC or temperature control by highlighting the mode button and clicking through the various options.

GeekVape Aegis Solo 100W battery img

The Aegis Solo can fire up to 100W, but with only a single 18650 battery, its power limit is not assured. It may be a little less because of the smaller-capacity battery. The functioning of the menu and the chip are both excellent. There were no problems scrolling through the various options. The buttons are responsive, and there was no drag or lag in their performance.

Vaping the Aegis Solo and Cerberus Tank

The Cerberus vape tank has been a mainstay of many GeekVape kits since 2017. It is a sub-ohm tank that takes conventional atomizer heads like the two X2 Super-Mesh coils included in the kit. The mesh on these heads are a bit more coarse than other similar designs, and they wrap all the way around the inside.

GeekVape Aegis Solo 100W tank img

The Cerberus vape tank itself features stainless steel and Pyrex glass components. It has a twist-to-open top cap that reveals the two fill ports underneath to fill the 5.5ml or 4ml glass section. Vapers living in TPD countries receive two 2ml glass piece instead of two different ones.

The drip tip is an 810-style, removable one that is a bit shorter than regular ones, but it has an o-ring inside the top cap (there is no extra drip tip in the kit). The Cerberus tank has dual, bottom, airflow slots that are fully adjustable. There is a protruding, 510 pin on the bottom, so don’t use the tank in the kit with a hybrid mechanical mod.

GeekVape Aegis Solo 100W 510 img

The Super Mesh, Kanthal mesh-wire coils that come in the kit are rated for between 30-45W, but vape best between 30-40W. The tank is compatible with other mesh-style atomizer heads like the TFV8 Baby coils.

The Vape

The AS chipset can power the Aegis up to 100W, although the vape did not feel like it got to that level or temperature at least. The X2 coils are best vaped at a lower wattage, of course, around 30-35W and vapers should use a lower-resistance or RDA tank to test out the mod’s capacities.

With the Cerberus tank attached, the box mod still gave off a great vape. The vapor was smooth, staying underneath the 30-40W maximum of the coils, with a very loose draw resistance. The airflow was kept open, and using the TFV8 Baby tank with the accompanying coils was the best way to let the mod fly and vape.

The VPC (variable power curve) feature of the AS chip allowed for a more customizable experience, as there are five different slots for a curve vape that vapers can program. As for the life of the single 18650, keeping below the recommended range of the coil, of 40W, or even a tad above at 50W, the Aegis lasted all day.

The device and battery in the kit may need recharging if the vape mod fires above 50W. The USB charging port should help with that, as well as the 1.5A charging available for the chip, which is somewhere between the slower 1A and the faster 2A.

The GeekVape Aegis Solo vs. the Aegis Mini vs. the Tesla Punk Mini

The Aegis Mini

This mini version of GeekVape’s popular Aegis line of mods has a single, built-in 2200mAh battery that can reach as high as an 80W output. This Aegis Mini vape mod also comes outfitted with the AS chipset that delivers users variable wattage mode, and temperature control, along with bypass.

GeekVape-Aegis-Mini-image-

It also comes in a kit with the Cerberus tank. The chip also features several safety features like a 10-second cutoff time, and short-circuit protection. This mini-mod also has the rugged, nearly indestructible build quality of its predecessors as it is waterproof, shockproof, and dustproof.

The Tesla Punk Mini

The Tesla Punk Mini box mod is a single 18650 device with a maximum power output of 85W that comes in a stand-alone kit (no tank). The device uses a three-button control configuration, paired with a 0.96 OLED display to control its various functions.

Tesla Punk 220W Vape MOD OLED image

The Punk Mini mod has a zinc alloy chassis with a notable Steampunk design aesthetic. There are two transparent, plastic viewing windows on either side of the mod, where there are also adjustable RGB LED lights. It has a bottom-loading battery bay door and a gold-plated connection up top.

Closing Thoughts on the Aegis Solo Kit

The GeekVape Aegis Solo kit features two high-performance vaping devices. The mod in the kit has a comfortable, ergonomic grip like all the other Aegis mods. Its narrow frame gives it a lightweight, portable feel, and the natural functioning of its control panel make it a joy to use. The Cerberus sub-ohm tank is a good match for the Aegis Solo, as it can handle the mod’s various functions like the 100W output.

The Cerberus tank is also compatible with several different atomizer heads so anyone who wants to push the mod and the AS chip to the limit can do with other coil heads. The mod itself comes in six different colors, and the design accents, like the leather wrap, along with the tightly-sealed interior are all well-done and tasteful.

VAPORESSO TARGET MINI II STARTER KIT REVIEW

Quality

The Target Mini 2 Starter Kit is the latest beginner-friendly, mouth to lung device to be released by Vaporesso in 2019. The battery lasts 50% longer than the previous rendition and it also features a new plug ‘n’ play coil design. Vaporesso is best known for manufacturing high-quality vape devices like the GenAurora Play and Renova Zero.

I admittedly never owned the original Target Mini but did hear good things about it. For such a compact device, it’s jam-packed with settings. For example, temperature control and bypass mode are usually reserved for larger box mods, but Vaporesso has kindly included it with the Target Mini II.

Vaporesso TARGET MINI 2 50W Starter Kit Review

Against

The Vaporesso Target Mini II is relatively small and lightweight mod, measuring just 107.1mm’s by 37.2mm’s by 25.7mm’s. As a result, it can fit easily inside your pocket and is perfect for vaping on the go. The body is made from mostly superior zinc alloy and also stainless steel. It’s capable of outputting a respectable 40 watts, which is more than enough to run the included VM Tank.

The mod is powered by an internal lithium 2000 mAh battery, which can be recharged with a Micro USB cable. The port also supports passthrough technology that allows you to vape while on charge. The Target Mini II should last you a day or two of battery life if running on a lower wattage. Bump that up to the full 40 watts and it’ll only last you half a day or so.

Vaporesso Target Mini 2 Kit 50W with VM Tank Review

On the front face is two adjustment buttons, fire trigger and 0.66 inch OLED display screen. All the functionality mentioned above is made possible by the powerful OMNI 4.2 chipset. This board is Vaporesso’s very own invention and boasts a fire rate within 0.001 seconds, broad material options, full TFT color resolution, and smart charging.

Tank

The Vaporesso Target Mini II Starter Kit comes with the VM MTL Sub-Ohm Tank. It measures 22mm’s in diameter and can hold 2ml’s of eliquid. The chassis is made from superior stainless steel, while the tube has been reinforced with pyrex glass. It can be filled easily by unthreading the top cap and squeezing in your ejuice.

Vaporesso Target Mini 2 MTL Kit USA Review

The coil options include a 1.0 ohm ccell and a 0.6 ohm mesh. Both include tea fiber wicking material. The ccel has been one of my favorite pre-made coils to date, but I felt the tank wasn’t able to give it justice flavor wise. The mesh was ok, but it’s hard to get that wrong.

Price

The Vaporesso Target Mini II Starter Kit is currently available to purchase. The best price I can find currently is $58.88 USD. I think that’s pretty expensive in contrast to similar products on the market. I hope the price drops eventually.

Packaging

The Vaporesso Target Mini II Starter Kit is currently available in silver, black, red, and teal. The colors are really vibrant and look great in person! The packaging design is stylish and modern. Inside you will find the mod, tank, 2 x coils, spare glass, o-rings, tool, USB cable, and user guide.

Comment down below what you thought of the Vaporesso Target Mini II Starter Kit.

Vapefly Jester Pod Kit Review

Even if you’ve never vaped before, you’ve probably heard about pod systems. If you’re a vaper, you’ve probably heard about pod mods, but have you ever heard about rebuildable pod systems? They’re a whole new breed of vape pods, and they’re not for everyone, but if you like tinkering with coils and saving money on disposable mods, you may want to look into them. Today we’re looking at one of the newest and most interesting rebuildbale pod systems on the market, the Vapefly Jester

View more vape devices: https://www.ave40.com/

A Look at the Contents

My last and only experience with a Vapefly product was last year, when I reviewed the tiny Vapefly Pixie RDA. Other than that, I had no information about the company. But there was something about the Jester that caught my eye. I had received about a dozen new samples for review, but there was just something about one black, pearlescent box that drew my attention. The green, fairytale-style font, the creepy jester face in the background, its neon green eyes, it was very different than all the other normal boxed I had in front of me. So definitely kudos to whoever design this packaging, it rocks!

Inside the box, we have the cool-looking Jester vape pod, a spare pod, a user manual, and a smaller box containing a micro-USB charger and a bunch of accessories you normally expect to find in an RDA/RDTA kit, not a pod system kit. But then again, the Vapefly Jester is not your average vape pod.

Interestingly, the back of the box doesn’t feature a list of contents, but you will find a list of the device’s main features, as well as technical specifications and information on the manufacturer.

Design and Build Quality

At first glance, the Vapefly Jester doesn’t have the most intriguing design. Yes, there is a menacing jester staring at you with evil eyes from both sides of the device, but in terms of shape, it’s pretty classic, and reminiscent of other devices I’ve tested recently, like the VooPoo Find S Trio. It measures 91mm x 33mm x 18mm, and is made primarily of plastic, with a rubberized finish on the battery casing. You would think the plastic body feels cheap, but it really doesn’t. I don’t know if it’s the rubberized exterior or the weight of the battery, but the Jester actually feels pretty nice in the hand.

The Vapefly Jester is a manual pod system, which means you have to press a fire button to activate the battery each time you want to vape. The round power button is located in the middle of the mod and is almost flush with the mod, protruding by only a hair. But you’ll also notice a couple of smaller buttons on the narrow sides of this pod system, which, when pressed, release the pod so it can be removed.

Unlike most vape pods, the Jester doesn’t rely on magnets to keep the pods in place, instead relying on a mechanical locking system that looks much more reliable, at least at first glance. Once the pod is inserted, it locks in place via a couple of plastic notches, and can only be released when the two small buttons on the mod are pressed simultaneously. It’s pretty ingenious, and a breath of fresh air.

One of the coolest things about this device is that you have two totally different style of pods. They may look similar on the outside, but on the inside they couldn’t be more different. One of them features removable coil-heads and bottom airflow adjustment, while the other features a built-in RBA that allows you to build and use your own wire coils. It’s a lot like the Smoant Pasito in that sense, only the Jester base, while still very small in comparison to a standard RDA base, looks much easier to build on.

Let’s start with the replaceable coil-head pod. To remove the coil, simply grab on to the base of the coil sticking out from the pod and pull it out, it’s that easy. Now, putting it back in is the tricky part, as you have to align the base of the coil-head with the shape of the slot it goes into, which is easier said than done. The coil-head base is not perfectly round, and you have to align the slightly flattened edges with the edges of the slot, so the that the coil-base reaches into the pod a bit. Of it’s not aligned correctly, the pod will not fit into the mod, and you won’t be able to do it.

The thing is you’ll figure out how to insert the coil-head eventually, but Vapefly could have made things a lot easier by adding a more obvious marker on the base to help you align it easier. It’s not the end of the world, but it could have definitely been done a little better. Still, there are things  I like about this style of pod. First of all, the airflow adjustment ring at the bottom of the coil-head works very well, allowing you to easily switch from mouth-to-lung to direct-lung mode.

The filling mechanism is pretty cool as well, this particular pod style features top-filling, and to access the fill port you first have to push a little button on the side of the mod and at the same time flip the top of the pod over. You can see the spring latch on one side of the pod, and the small square button on the opposite one. The fill port is sealed with a rubber cap, but is otherwise large enough to fit most styles of bottles.

But the thing you’re probably more interested in is the rebuildable pod, the one with the integrated build deck. It’s definitely an interesting concept, but one that probably won’t see much success outside the community of builders, the vapers who actually enjoy building coils, cutting leads, wicking cotton, etc. It’s a bit of a hassle for the causal vaper, let alone fresh ex-smokers, but they have plenty of simplistic pod systems to choose from, plus they can always use the mesh coil pod.

To expose the build deck, you must first yank the mouthpiece off the pod. Its pressed fit onto the bottom section, so you’ll have to put some muscle into it. Now that you have access to the base, you can either build your own micro-coil, or use on of the two 1Ω coils included in the kit. Installing them is not the easiest thing in the world, because the base  and the Philips-head screws are so tiny, but if you have a bit of experience installing coils, you’ll be ok. I personally went for the stock coils and cotton that came with the kit, and I’ve been pretty happy with the performance. Obviously, you can experiment with different wires and resistances, but you can only do so much experimenting because of the limited power output of the device.

One thing you should be extra careful about is clipping the leads of the coil as short as possible, as they can make contact with the metallic bell on the inside of the mouthpiece and cause a short-circuit. It hasn’t happened to me, but I’ve seen other people posting about it online, so I thought I’d let you know. Also, when using the rebuildable pod, I don’t recommend you leave it laying horizontally for too long, as it will most likely start too leak.

The rebuildable pod is ok, but it has its limitations. For example, the wicking slots are very small, there’s no airflow control like on the other style of pod, and there is no way to check the resistance of your coil, as you would on a regular RDA. Still, having what is essentially an RDTA pod does have its advantages. The flavor is much better than from a coil-head, even a mesh one, and the cost is substantially smaller. Instead of throwing away a whole pod or a coil-head, all you have to do is dry burn your coil or just use a bit more cheap wire.

Battery Life and Performance

The Vapefly Jester pod system features a built-in 1,000mAh battery, which should last most users a day, or close to that, depending on how much they vape and the selected power output. The Jester has three available power modes, which you can browse through be pressing the fire button three times in rapid succession. When the power button lights up purple, the Jester will output 3.3 volts, when the color switches to blue, it puts out 3.8 volts, and green means the full 4.2 volts. However, for safety reasons, the last setting is only available for the rebuildable pod, and only with coils in a certain resistance range.

The battery capacity of this device is among the best I’ve seen from a pod system, but it still isn’t enough, you can also use it as a passthrough as well, meaning you can vape while the device is charging. To be honest, it’s not the safest thing in the world to do, but I for one have always been a big fan of this feature, so it’s always a plus in my book.

One thing the Vapefly Jester is missing is a proper battery life indicator. Right now, the LED light embedded in the fire button lights up according to what power output you’ve selected, and only flashes red ten times when it’s time to recharge. But, as far as I can tell, there’s no way to tell when you’re about to run out of battery, which is kind of strange. Still not a big deal, as this device has plenty of pros, enough to dismiss small design flaws like this one.

Performance wise, I have to admit that the Vapefly Jester turned out to be a pleasant surprise. Having only tested one Vapefly product before, and considering it’s not the most popular brand, I wasn’t expecting too much from this pod system. But it turned out to have all the latest features in the vape pod sector, as well some rather ingenious locking and filling systems, which I for one haven’t seen on other pod systems before.

I wasn’t all that excited about the rebuildable pod, to be honest, simply because I would rather use a true RDTA or RTA than something this tiny, but a lot of people are raving about it and for good reason. It offers great flavor, and it’s a lot cheaper to use in the long run. So as long as you don’t mind the small size of the RBA, you’ll be happy with it. I do wish it had adjustable airflow, though, as right now you’re stuck with whatever air gets in.

The replaceable coil-head pod was my favorite of the two. It’s very easy to use, convenient, it has adjustable airflow, and the mesh coil-head actually performs surprisingly well. At 0.5Ω, it’s not the most ideal for mouth-to-lung, but you can tweak the airflow to make it work. But if you really want the best MTL experience, there’s also a 1.2Ω coil-head available. Sadly, that comes included in the Meshed Edition, not the Rebuildable one I got for this review, but you can also buy it separately.

I’ve been using the Vapefly Jester for five days, and to be honest I’ve really been enjoying it. The device works as advertised, having variable power output is always nice, the pods cater to different style of vaping, and the battery life is fantastic.

Conclusion

Even though it faces some very steep competition in the rebuildable pod system market, the Vapefly  is surprisingly early to the party, at least for a relatively small manufacturer, and its Jester pod has plenty of time to establish itself as the device to beat. Right now I see it going head to head with the Smoant Pasito, and even surpassing it in the RBA department, as it has the easier design to work with. Time will tell if the Jester can surpass its competitors, but I definitely give it a fighting chance. It’s a solid device, and one that I see myself using for a while going forward.

SMOK RPM 40 Review

It’s been a while since SMOK had a true best-seller, but judging by the hype surrounding its new RPM40 pod mod, this could be one of the hottest products in the Chinese company’s history. So what’s so special about this particular device? Well, it aims to bridge the gap between advanced mods and vape pods in a way that attracts both veteran vapers and complete beginners. Let’s see if it succeeds:

A Look at the Contents

The SMOK RPM40 pod mod comes in a rectangular cardboard box in the color that the device itself comes in. For example, my review sample was green, so the box was green as well. On the front, we have a picture of the mod, as well as some pictograms representing its main features, and on the back we have a list of contents, some mandatory warnings about nicotine and the minimum vaping age, and information on the manufacturer.

Inside the box we have the RPM40 pod mod, sitting in a Styrofoam holder next to two refillable pods. We also have a micro-USB cable for charging and a user manual, as well as some other literature that I personally never bother reading. It’s pretty much your usual starter kit, but I must say I am happy to see SMOK including two pods instead of one.

View more vape devices: https://www.ave40.com/

Design and Build Quality

The RPM40 pod mod measures 25mm x 25mm x 99mm and weighs 99 grams. Like most other vaping devices, it is made primarily of zinc alloy and comes in a variety of colors, including green, orange or rainbow. Some variants feature carbon fiber-imitating stickers, while others come with resin-imitating stickers.

Design-wise, the SMOK RPM40 is very similar to its main competitor, the VooPoo Vinci, which I reviewed earlier this week. They both have this cubic shape, similar size, and even the display and button placement are oddly similar. The RPM40 is just as solid as the Vinci, you get no rattling or wobbling components, even when shaking the device really hard, and all the buttons are nice and clicky.

This 40W pod mod comes with two styles of replaceable pods, one clear, and another tinted black. The clear one features the new RPM coil-heads, while the tinted pod comes with a SMOK Nord coil-head, the kind we’ve seen used before on Nord pods. Both coil-heads are Plug-n’-Play (PnP) style, meaning all you have to do is plug them into the pods through the bottom, and you’re good to go. Even’ though it’s hard to notice, the o.4Ω coil-head is slightly larder that the 0.6Ω Nord coil-head, because the e-liquid capacity of the latter is 4.5ml, compared to just 4.3ml for the former.

The pods both have filling ports on the side, covered by silicone plugs, and really beefy plastic mouthpieces that thin out at the end to make them comfortable to hold in the mouth. The coil-heads are interchangeable, which is very nice, but unfortunately, this device features no airflow control whatsoever.

While most pod systems and pod mods these days rely on magnets to keep the pods attached, the SMOK RPM40 pods are pressed in. It’s not the most popular system, but it definitely gets the job done, as I’ve had no issues with the pods ever coming off accidentally. One thing I didn’t like about the way the pods attach is that they go in all the way to the black mouthpiece, so there’s no way to tell how much juice is left without removing the pod to check.

The decorative stickers on three of the four sides of the SMOK RPM40 have been holding up ok-ish so far (they have some minor scratches), but it’ll interesting to see how they’ll look in a few months, or even a year. On the fourth side of the RPM40 we have the control panel, which consists of a square-shaped fire button, a generous color display and two adjustment buttons. As I mentioned above, the buttons are nice and clicky, and the display really is very nice for this type of device. 0.96 inches is a very nice size, and the brightness is perfect as well.

On the bottom of the pod mod we have the micro-USB port for charging, and an “IQ-R Chip” text, which most likely refers to the chip inside this device.

Apart from not being able to check the e-liquid level in the pods, there’s nothing I can really complain about. The RPM40 is solid, it’s got a compact design, and it feel really nice in the hand.

Battery Life and Performance

Just like its main competitor, the VooPoo Vinci, the SMOK RPM40 pod mod has a battery capacity of 1,500mAh, which is a lot more than what most regular vape pods have. It’s true that this is a slightly bulkier device, but it’s still ultra-portable and the extra battery life is definitely worth it. It’s most likely not going to last you more than a couple of hours if you chain vape at 40W, but if you prefer a cooler vape and don’t hit it ever few seconds, you could definitely get a full day out of a fully charged battery.

The RPM40 features fast charging technology, which means it can go from empty to fully charged in just under two hours. You can also use it as a passthrough, while it’s charging.

Performance-wise, the SMOK RPM40 is good, definitely better than all of the direct-lung vape pods I’ve tried so far, including the SMOK Novo and even the Trinity Alpha, but still not as good as the VooPoo Vinci. Everyone’s talking about the close competition between these two devices, but as far as I’m concerned the Vinci is so much more advanced that there’s really no competition at all. SMOK has always been a popular brand, VooPoo not so much, so the RPM40 may end up selling better, but in terms of features and performance, the Vinci is simply the better option, in my opinion.

First of all, the SMOK RPM40 coil-heads are great, as long as you’re not looking for a mouth-to-lung (MTL) vaping experience. There’s no adjustable airflow, so you’re stuck with a very airy draw. That translates into excellent vapor production, which is nice if you’re into that, but I personally like a nice MTL vape every now and them even an airier one. Unfortunately, there’re no way to pull off an MTL draw on this device, period.

Then there is the lack of features. On the Vinci, I did a separate section on Menu and Navigation, because there was so much to write about, but here all we have are ways to lock the buttons, change the color of the text on the display and adjust the power. It’s a more basic device compare to the Vinci, which had both manual and automatic battery activation, puff tracker over a period of 14 days, and intelligent wattage suggestion, just to name a few.

In terms of actual performance, the RPM40 is a great device, for what it is. I can definitely see why people are hyped about it, it’s much better than a pod system and much more convenient than an advanced mod-subohm tank setup, but I have to fault SMOK for not including any MTL options at all. The Vinci has some sort of airflow control, it’s not the best, but you can pull off a mouth-to-lung draw in certain conditions, and VooPoo is working on dedicated MTL coil-heads as well. Even if SMOK were to do the same, I fail to see how they would fix the problem of airflow.

Bottom line, if you’re looking for thick clouds of vapor and great flavor, the SMOK RPM40 is a great choice, but it’s not the best. You can get the same great vaping experience and more with the Vinci in my opinion. You can even do MTL, not to mention all the “smart” features as well. Plus, you can even see the e-liquid level in the Vinci pods without removing them.

Conclusion

If you’re looking for the TLDR version of the review, all I can tell you is that the SMOK RPM40 is a great vaping device for both advanced vapers and casual users. It works great, has plenty of power and the vapor production and flavor you get from the pods are amazing. That said, this is a device limited to direct lung vaping only. If you’re looking for a mouth-to-lung vape similar to the draw on a tobacco cigarette, you’re not going to be able to replicate that with the RPM40. Plus, its direct competitor the VooPoo Vinci, has some MTL capabilities, extra features, same battery capacity and same power output.

Featuring the AXON chip which preemptively takes action to protect you from dry hits. Based on Auto Temperature Controlled technology, AXON is the most reliable way to protect your flavor and your coil. Besides, the AXON automatically identifies what type of POD you have inserted and set the correct wattage to prevent any misuse. With pulse mode, Degree will continuously give you a hit throughout your puff (every 0.02s) – not just from the initial fire – giving you more powerful, flavorful clouds with every puff.

What’s more, you can be more in control of your flavor and vapor levels, with the adjustable wattages on-screen output. And there are two pods for your selections, with Meshed Pod, 0.6Ω(Optimal Range 16-22w) and CCELL Pod, 1.3Ω(Optimal Range 7-12.5w). In addition, it’s easy to refill the e-liquid because PTF on top makes filling a breeze. No need to take out the pod, just fill. When your liquid is running low, an on-screen reminder will pop-up to give you a nudge to fill up.
